19th Century Mill Ledgers - Research Question
Author Last Post

I am also interested in this subject as I have the ledger from an 1840s mill in which I am trying to decipher. I also would be happy to look at your information and see if anything I have transcribed works for you.

Although I am not familiar with 19th century mill ledgers I am someone who has had to read contemporary documents from the early 17th century and decipher them. If you can scan and share the pages in question I would be glad to take a shot at them.

Hi all,

Does anyone have a business ledger from their own 19th century gristmill who is willing to compare notes? We are currently studying a ledger from the 1870s that is in our collection and are having some trouble understanding some of the transactions. I was hoping we could compare and contrast ours with another ledger from around the same time period to see if there are any similarities.

Our goal is to figure out who was patronizing our mill at this time period.

Thanks!
