The Friends of Peirce Mill seek an experienced and enthusiastic miller to operate Washington’s last working gristmill from late April through October 2024. The ideal candidate for this independent contractor position will have professional or volunteer experience operating an historic, water-powered mill. The part-time miller will work closely with the Friends, the National Park Service, and volunteers to grind corn on two Saturdays a month during public milling demonstrations in Rock Creek Park. The miller will also prepare the mill for safe operation and help clean and maintain the machinery.
Compensation: $50/hour for 12-16 hours per month from April through October
